Caroline Bousfield Gregory (Associate Member)
In an old cider cellar under the house, I design & make thrown stoneware pottery for everyday and special use; inspired by cooking, storing and serving up wonderful food.
My intention is for all ware to be both functional and a pleasure to use, handle and look at.
A dish should let the food speak for itself, then when it is empty what is left is a beautiful dish!
Mainly thrown on the wheel from buff stoneware clay; pulled and rolled handles, some with texture; brushed, sponged & trailed slip decoration in blues & greens; with semi-matt and shiny glazes. Cups, mugs, plates & bowls, dishes, jugs, candleholders…
I do take commissions and special orders.
In 1971 I graduated in 3D Design, specialising in furniture; and then taught woodwork part-time in adult education.
For 46 years my pottery workshop and shop was in Hackney near Victoria Park, East London; but in 2022 I moved and installed myself & a new workshop in central Ledbury.
About once a month I have a stall under the Ledbury Market House and am always happy to be contacted and visited at my workshop in Wisteria Cottage.
In September I will be taking part in H-art (Herefordshire Open Studios) for the second time in 2023.
I shall be exhibiting with Herefordshire Guild of Craftsmen including the 2023 Malvern Autumn Show, see the Events page for details.
