Neil Spalding
Ceramic Artist
Neil Spalding is a ceramic artist specialising in models of historical buildings. He makes models of buildings in clay, which are are all hand made and hand decorated. No moulds or sprays are used. The most complex, Blakesley Hall, is made out of 58 separate pieces of clay.
The buildings can be fired as earthenware or raku. Indeed some models are made in each of the different glaze finishes.
The models reflect to a great extent some of the working buildings of our industrial and agricultural heritage. Neil is constantly seeking historic functional buildings to add to range. Usually three new buildings a year make their debut.
