Bernadette Erskine-Hornyold
Tapestry and Velvet Bags
Bernadette served an apprenticeship at Angel’s theatrical costumiers in London in the late 1970’s. She started designing and making tapestry bags inspired by a waistcoat she made for Anthony Hopkins. Selling her early designs of tapestry bags from a stand at the Apple market in Covent Garden, Bernadette developed the business in the 1980’s and early 90’s. Many famous shops in London and New York carried her collection.
For the past 23 years, Bernadette has worked on the bespoke side of her business and makes each tapestry bag to order but she also has a range of travel, pouch bags and evening bags which she sells at shows with the Herefordshire Guild of Craftsmen.
